Guiding Principles

Although the following 10 principles are fundamental to what we do, why we do it, and how we do it, we remain open to amending these as we grow and learn more about our work.

Guiding Principle #1: We believe all people are created in the Imago Dei, Latin for “image of God,” and, therefore, have inherent value independent of their utility or function. We believe that people have the potential to change their world for the better if they are given the opportunity to do so.

Guiding Principle #2: We are funders & shapers who rely on others to act & implement.

Guiding Principle #3: Our focus is clear and limited. We identify a specific point of intervention and apply our efforts to that targeted area. We cannot solve all of the world’s problems.

Guiding Principle #4: We take risks, make big bets, and move with urgency. We have a permenant commitment to this process.

Guiding Principle #5: We must be humble and mindful in our actions and words. We seek and heed the counsel of outside voices.

Guiding Principle #6: We treat each other as valued colleagues.

Guiding Principle #7: We treat our clients with respect.

Guiding Principle #8:
We demand ethical behavior of partners, our clients, and ourselves.

Guiding Principle #9:  Meeting our mission, to increase opportunity and equity for those most in need, requires excellent stewardship of the monetary resources we have available.

Guiding Principle #10: We leave room for growth and change.
