History
In late 2004 a few friends sat in a Los Angeles coffee shop discussing Muhammad Yunus and his work with Grameen Bank. They wanted to use his theory of microfinance to eliminate worldwide poverty on a massive scale.
They found that many organizations are already doing this, both in the U.S. and abroad. While they didn’t want to “reinvent the wheel” or overlap with efforts currently underway, they weren’t excited over the existing options.
They believed that two conditions have to be present to make real progress in eliminating poverty. First, local resources need to be involved. This includes neighbors who speak the native tongue and understood the cultural, economic, and religious context of the borrowers. Second, as funders and shapers, they should only provide their “expertise” when beneficial to the borrower.
Out of this meeting God Farm was formed.
God Farm Logo
The God Farm Logo comprises two parts. In black, it features a silhouette of a young boy being cradled in an arm. This represents the desire of God Farm to help and nuture people and families. The second part is a drop of water, which represents the substance that God Farm provides to help people grow their businesses and improve their lives. This is shaded green to symbolize life and growth.
